Kineke Alexander
Class of 2008
Kineke Alexander came to The University of Iowa from the Caribbean nation of St. Vincent and The Grenadines on an athletic scholarship in track and field, and exceeded all expectations. With support from I-Club contributors, she won championships, set school records, and was named to a remarkable eight all-America teams—one for each semester she wore the black and gold. Along the way, she competed for her nation in the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
But even more important than Kineke's athletic achievements were her academic accomplishments—she earned a degree in history and international studies, aided by resources made available by generous contributors to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Kineke hopes to develop an international career—and thanks to gifts to the UI, Iowa will always be part of her road map to success.
